Work continues, and maybe wrapping up shortly, on Emporia’s downtown sanitary sewer project.
The project has been ongoing for over the past year and has unfortunately seen some setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes the project coming to a complete halt back in April due to staffing concerns at the onset of the pandemic.
Emporia Main Street Director Casey Woods tipped his hat to all involved in the project for pushing through the adversity and bringing the project to fruition.
At this time, Woods says the project is nearing the final stretch with CCTV inspections and any last-minute needed adjustments currently underway.
Woods says the extensive improvements will be a major benefit to the Emporia community for decades to come especially from an economic development perspective. According to Woods, a strong up-to-date infrastructure is a major focal point for developers as they consider potentially taking up roots in the local community.
According to Woods, the project should wrap up by the end of August barring any further delays in work.
