City officials and civic leaders are doing what they can to get business owners and nonprofit administrators ready for an upcoming grant application process.
Numerous grants will officially be available for applications at noon Wednesday. On KVOE’s Newsmaker 3 segment Monday, City Commissioner and Ignite Emporia Director Rob Gilligan said this is part of a second phase of federal funding that’s available through the Kansas Department of Commerce.
This follows Phase 1, which saw federal aid passed to counties based on population, unemployment and coronavirus response. Lyon County received almost $7.7 million as part of that allocation.
Businesses should be operating since July 1, 2019. They also need to document a minimum 25-percent year-to-year loss in revenue. Maximum amounts for most grants will be $10,000 to $20,000, but entertainment venues can apply for up to $100,000.
