Emergency crews transported one individual from the scene of two separate vehicle accidents Monday evening.
Emporia and Lyon County EMS and Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the 2800 block of Road L, 16 miles north of Emporia, shortly after 6:40 pm for a rollover accident. Once on the scene, deputies found two separate accidents had occurred in the area.
The first accident involved a southbound 2002 Suzuki SUV. According to Lyon County Sheriff’s Sgt. Doug Stump, a possible mechanical failure caused the driver, a 15-year-old female juvenile, to lose control of the vehicle, leave the roadway and roll in a nearby field.
At the same time the drivers of two other southbound vehicles, a Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo, looked away from the roadway and observed the rollover leading to the Monte Carlo rear-ending the Impala. The drivers of the two vehicles, both also teenage juveniles, were not injured in the accident.
The driver of the Suzuki was taken by private vehicle to Newman Regional Health for observation and possible treatment. Sgt. Stump tells KVOE News the driver was mobile and cognizant following the accident.
Names are not being released.
