It won’t be the typical late-summer block party for Emporia Main Street on Thursday.
Instead, Main Street is planning a Moonlight “Walk Party” to help start the fall semester for students at Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College as well as the general public. Director Casey Woods says this will combine the annual block party and Moonlight Madness shopping events.
Under most circumstances, Main Street’s Welcome Back Block Party would cram close to 3,000 students in the 1000 and 1100 blocks of Commercial Street to learn more about downtown businesses.
The Walk Party is from 5-9 pm. Masks are required and social distancing is strongly encouraged. More information is online at www.emporiamainstreet.com.
