Significant discussion is coming for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education on Monday night.
As we have been telling you since the announcement Friday, the board will spend time discussing certain “gating criteria” for the start of the school year, currently set for Sept. 2. On KVOE’s Newsmaker 3 segment Monday, Superintendent Kevin Case said the gating criteria at the state level came out after the district released its back-to-school plan several weeks ago.
Not taking place — patron or public comments, due to board policy not allowing public comment during special meetings or work sessions.
The meeting is at 6 pm and will include talks about the development of state gating procedures through the Kansas State Board of Education — as well as perspectives from a local committee on current data trends, notably the two-week positive case percentage rate, two-week cumulative incident rate per 100,000 and trend data.
The meeting will be available on the district’s website, www.usd253.org. Click here for the link to the state’s gating criteria page and look below for district background information.
