Unity, light, purpose and promise were common themes on the last night of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night.
As he formally accepted the party’s nomination for president, Joe Biden urged Americans to step out of what he called a dark time in American history.
Emporian Jeremy Dorsey served as a convention delegate in 2016 and again this year. He noted the format differences, saying it was good to see people up-close-and-personal four years ago — but he also said the virtual format this week made the convention more accessible to more people.
Dorsey echoed Biden’s call for change.
Dorsey tells KVOE News the convention was historic, in part because of the pandemic-related adjustments, in part because of Kamala Harris being nominated as Biden’s vice president and in part because of the number of Republicans offered time to speak on Biden’s behalf — or against President Donald Trump, depending on your viewpoint.
The Republican National Convention begins Monday.
