The Emporia High volleyball team is hoping to take advantage of several younger players who gained valuable playing experience last season.
Coach Ashley Nehls says she has been pleasantly surprised by the early practices.
The Lady Spartans do return several key players including senior Emily Christensen, who was an all-centennial league honorable mention.
The Lady Spartans are scheduled to open their season on September 1st when they host Highland Park and Topeka High.
