One of the big debates taking place today is should schools be allowing athletic teams to compete due to the cornavirus pandemic. The answer is not clear cut.
Emporia High Football Coach Corby Milleson was on Sports Talk Saturday morning on KVOE and said the students need to be connected.
Coach Milleson said he understands the risks involved, but there is more than 1 risk.
Coach Milleson says he also supports those who have opted out of participating.
Coach Milleson says extracurricular activities also keep the students connected to their school.
So far the Wichita and Kansas City Kansas school districts have canceled fall sports. Other Kansas City area School districts have suspended fall sports. Topeka has suspended the start of the football season for 1 week. The other sports will start as scheduled.
Coach Milleson believes those that do play will be able to find games to play.
Coach Milleson says he would like to give the students a chance.
