An equipment malfunction led to a small grass fire in north Lyon County on Monday.
Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says a hay baler had a bearing malfunction in a field in th 2700 block of Kansas Highway 99 just before 11:30 am. The baler was fine, but it started a fire that eventually burned about two acres of hay.
Emporia, Lyon County District 4 and Reading responded. No injuries were reported.
