After five years of hard work to preserve the history of local veterans, the city of Bushong celebrated the completion of the North Lyon County Veteran’s Memorial this past weekend.
While the memorial is still awaiting the delivery of three stones, spokesperson Dianne Bedner-Smith tells KVOE News the memorial is fully paid off and organizers wanted to move forward with a celebration of the half-decade long project. Saturday afternoon they did just that with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and community fish fry.
Bedner-Smith says it was an amazing feeling to know that the past five years of hard work have finally paid off.
Bedner-Smith says now their attention has now shifted to the construction of a memorial wall and museum to go along with the memorial. She says the purpose of the additional projects is to help continue preserving and teaching the history of veterans to future generations.
