The Kansas State High School Activities Association Board of Directors has approved an alternate fall sports season. The alternate season would take place in the spring and would be for those teams that will be unable to compete this fall.
It also allows those teams that can compete to continue with their seasons. Emporia High Athletic Director Curtis Simons is hoping they will not have to take advantage of the alternate fall schedule.
The schools are divided into two bands, one for 5A and 6A schools the other for schools 1A thru 4A.
For the alternate season to kick-in more than half of the schools in each band will need to suspend one or more activity.
A decision to take advantage of the alternate fall season would need to be made by September 21st.
