Lyon County starts the week with 855 coronavirus cases since March and nearly 90 active cases.
Lyon County Public Health had an active week, with an increase of 35 total cases since Aug. 24 and 59 new cases since Aug. 21. The number of deaths also increased from 14 to 17, The death toll has stayed flat since Wednesday, but the latest information from Public Health has 11 deaths awaiting final classification on cause of death from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Nine of those deaths are in Lyon County’s long-term care cluster category.
Lyon County’s positive test rate was at 13.36 percent, up from 8.7 percent from the prior week. The county is down to 10th in Kansas for total cases. Johnson, Sedgwick and Wyandotte counties are the top three in that category:

*Chase County has 65 total cases with 15 active. One death is awaiting final classification on cause from KDHE. The weekly positivity rate is 25 percent, according to information from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
*Coffey County has 79 total cases, six active cases and eight confirmed deaths. The weekly positivity rate is 2.86 percent.
*Greenwood County is up to 31 active cases and seven active cases. The weekly positivity rate is 5.26 percent.
*Morris County has 18 total and four active cases. The weekly positivity rate is 2.
*Osage County has 60 total and nine active cases. The weekly positivity rate is 1.76 percent
*Wabaunsee County has 51 total and nine active cases. The weekly positivity rate is 6.52 percent.
