From March 22, when coronavirus officially came to Lyon County, to June 1, the county had 430 confirmed cases. It has had another 440 cases logged between June 1 and Aug. 31.
On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Tuesday, Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern said the ongoing trend of increased overall cases, the recent bump in active cases and the number of close contacts per confirmed case all have Public Health worried about whether Lyon County should re-enact certain restrictions.
Millbern also detailed concerns she has seen — and some of the frustrations that have developed on all sides — when it comes to the increased numbers of close contacts and when it comes to contact tracing.
The tracing issues coincide with a push in the number of people seeking tests or information. Millbern says the testing lane was double-booked at times Monday, while the hotline was overrun and needed four extra people to answer calls.
