Lyon County Public Health is reporting 12 new coronavirus cases and 13 recoveries in Wednesday’s update.
The active case number dropped slightly to 83 with 890 total cases and 789 total recoveries. The death count remains at 17 with 17 cases pending death certificate information from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Public Health has added a new cluster category under colleges and universities. That category currently one active cluster, five total cases, five active cases and no deaths.
Emporia State University announced Wednesday afternoon that five student-athletes had tested positive for COVID-19. As of 3 pm Wednesday, ESU is reporting a total of 14-student athletes have tested positive for COVID-19. Emporia State University had reported eight positive cases with two individuals in on-campus quarantine as of Friday. Meanwhile, Flint Hills Technical College is currently reporting three active COVID-19 cases with seven individuals in quarantine.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is reporting 1,328 new cases statewide Wednesday. The number of total cases now stands at 43,940 with 12 new deaths listed.
The state’s death toll is now at 458.
