Yet another area school district is getting off to a good start.
UD 251 North Lyon County Superintendent Bob Blair joined KVOE’s morning show as part of an ongoing series of updates on the 2020-21 school year. Blair says four days into the school year, things are “going really well” from his vantage point.
Blair credits the work of the district’s reopening committee and the plan it developed over the summer. He also gave credit to district students for embracing the plan and its numerous health-related changes.
He says he was “pleasantly surprised” with how well students have adhered to the district’s mask mandates and social distancing guidelines.
At this time, the majority of students are attending in-person classes with roughly five percent (20 students) opting for remote only learning. Blair says those percentages lined up with his expectations based on conversations he’s had with district patrons heading into the school year.
The district’s extracurricular activity schedule will be moving ahead as planned. Blair says there will be precautions taken to limit spectators and thus reduce the potential for mass gatherings.
He explains that students will be permitted to identify four spectators to attend games for outdoor events and two for indoor events.
KVOE will be continuing its ongoing interview series with superintendents and building administrators on KVOE’s Morning Show this month.
