Chelsea Brooks has withdrawn her motion to remove her plea in a 2018 chase incident, but that’s so a new motion can be filed soon.
Brooks appeared in Lyon County District Court on Thursday and decided not to pursue an earlier request to withdraw her plea, but that was to correct certain language in the original motion. A hearing on the adjusted motion will be heard Sept. 14.
In July, 30-year-old Chelsea Brooks pleaded no contest to a single count of assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, in this case, a vehicle, related to a chase in December 2018 which began in Emporia and eventually ended around 10 miles south of Burlingame. Brooks then asked to withdraw that plea, citing ineffective legal counsel.
