There will be a new location for the Emporia Regional Economic Outlook Conference next month.
Instead of being at Emporia State University, as it has been since its inception, the conference will be at the Lyon County History Center on Oct. 16. This is also the first year conference organizers have added a so-called flex registration option due to the coronavirus pandemic, so all attendees will automatically be registered for an in-person and webinar format — and on the day of the conference, they can choose whether to attend at the History Center or go online.
Once again, the conference will feature a range of experts from across the state, including two from Emporia State University. Bekah Selby, an assistant professor in Math and Economics, will provide the local update, while Mark Fusaro, the associate dean of Emporia State’s School of Business, will report on state information through the Emporia State Economic Index. Other presenters:
*Jeremy Hill, the director of Wichita State’s Center for Economic Development and Business Research, will have the state outlook
*Stan Longhofer, the director of Wichita State’s Center for Real Estate, will have the state real estate outlook
*Mykel Taylor, an assistant professor of Farm Management at Kansas State University, will have the agriculture update
*Joyce French, current vice president of 2S Inc. and one-time co-owner of S&S Oil and Propane, is serving as event host.
Registration is underway online at www.emporia.cedbr.org. Cost to attend is $95, including forecast booklets and lunch.
