The Kansas Masonic Literacy Center is celebrating Kansas Literacy Week beginning on Labor Day, and it wants families to celebrate and participate.
Assistant Director Tasia Markowitz says every day of the week has a special theme:
*Monday: Environmental print
*Tuesday: Wordless books
*Wednesday: Sign language
*Thursday: Nursery rhyme fun
*Friday: Nonfiction text
On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Friday, Markowitz said activities surrounding the daily theme will make it easy for families and young learners to get involved — and, possibly, develop a daily reading routine.
The week also includes a daily book giveaway through the Literacy Center’s Facebook page.
