Construction work on a state highway and a federal highway is stepping up in Council Grove.
The city says drivers on Kansas Highway 177 and US Highway 56 can expect delays with construction and repairs begin on both roads and associated crosswalks beginning Tuesday.
This comes as the Kansas Department of Transportation is set to begin a patch and overlay project on the US-56 bridge over Big John Creek three miles east of Council Grove. Speeds will be reduced to 35 mph and temporary signals have been installed to get drivers through the work zone. Work begins Tuesday and should last through late October.
