As it announced plans for voluntary testing, ESU also said it had 11 new cases of coronavirus over the past week.
Seven of the cases are from symptomatic patients, according to the university’s online tracking dashboard. The other four come from so-called group test results, defined by ESU as “a specific, identifiable group of asymptomatic students where testing the entire cohort of students is important to the health and safety of that group, or to the communities in which they interact.”
Four students are in on-campus isolation. One is in on-campus quarantine.
Emporia State tested 172 people over the last week, including 128 in the group test category.
Since the fall semester began, ESU has tested 444 students with 46 confirmed positive cases.
Meanwhile, Flint Hills Technical College has one active case and nobody in quarantine. The college had reported three additional cases earlier in the semester.
