A special disc golf tournament Saturday supported the endeavors, both present and future, of Emporia Habitat for Humanity.
The event held at Hammond Park was organized by Dynamic Discs in partnership with Habitat and was sponsored by NexTech Wireless. Habitat President Ryan Janzen says the organization has already had to cancel two other fundraising events earlier this year due to COVID-19.
Janzen says that makes a major impact on Habitat, as fundraisers are essentially the financial life-blood of the organization.
According to Janzen, 15 teams participated in the competition. He says events such as the disc golf tournament are something that Habitat always looks forward to as it provides funding for the organization while also allowing them to spread their message to the community.
At this time, Habitat has two builds in progress one located on Cottonwood and the other on Mechanic. Janzen is confident they will be able to have both houses complete before the end of the year.
Totals from Saturday’s event are pending. For more information on Habitat for Humanity visit Habitat.org.
