The woman survived the incident.
*A suspect in an aggravated assault case from a year ago has a pretrial hearing at 1:15 pm. Cody Risner was arrested in October after a man was allegedly stabbed at 1201 Triplett in Emporia but failed to appear at separate hearings in Lyon and Coffey counties for separate battery incidents before he was captured. Risner also has a hearing at 1:15 pm for a separate alleged stabbing at 605 East 11th in February shortly before he allegedly became a fugitive.
*An Emporia man who allegedly had his pickup stolen in December 2018 is facing charges for allegedly shooting at the suspect and has a hearing at 2 pm. Brian Russell Willhite faces two counts of criminal discharge of a firearm after his pickup was allegedly stolen by Blake Cheney, who was unhurt and then allegedly led a short law enforcement chase before being arrested south of Emporia. Cheney pleaded no contest to attempted aggravated burglary and other charges back in January. The Kansas Supreme Court dismissed Cheney’s appeal of the sentence in the case because he received a sentence under the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines and an appeal was not an option in his case.
*An Emporia man accused of trying to assault law enforcement as part of an alleged incident involving Emporia Police in May will have a hearing at 1:15 pm. Miguel Renterio is accused of motioning as if he was reaching for a gun as officers served a warrant.
