A man accused of two separate stabbings in Lyon County over the past year is pleading no contest in both cases.
Cody Risner, 27, made an appearance in Lyon County District Court on Friday. He pleaded no contest to one count of aggravated battery in a case from October 2019 and attempted aggravated battery in a case from this past February.
Risner was first charged after an alleged stabbing at 1201 Triplett last fall. He was also charged after an alleged stabbing at 605 East 11th back in February.
Shortly before Risner was supposed to go to trial for the October 2019 incident and shortly after the alleged incident in February, he allegedly failed to appear for court appearances in Lyon County. He also failed to appear for at least one hearing for a domestic battery charge in Coffey County before he was arrested in April.
Risner could receive up to 41 months in prison for the Emporia stabbing incidents. Sentencing is at 9 am Nov. 10.
