Road construction is coming for Industrial Park III in southeast Emporia as well as part of northeast Emporia.
The Emporia Engineering Department has plans to start work next week on storm sewer, curb and gutter, concrete drives, valley gutters and asphalt surfacing on several streets around Industrial Park III:
*South Avenue from East to Weaver
*Weaver Street from Logan to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks
*Logan Avenue from Weaver to Warren
Traffic will detour to Penny Lane with these projects.
Meanwhile, the area around the Interstate 35 Burlingame Road exit will see work beginning next week as well. Burlingame will have asphalt surfacing from 12th to Riley, while 12th will have surfacing from Mary to Whittier. The I-35 ramps will be affected as well.
Drivers are asked to be cautious in the work zones or find other ways to get where they need to go. Construction near I-35 at Burlingame Road should wrap up next week. Construction at Industrial Park 3, meanwhile, could well go into November, weather permitting.
