Emporia Fire is investigating after a small fire involving political signs in downtown Emporia early Sunday morning.
Fire Capt. Jesse Taylor tells KVOE News two signs endorsing President Donald Trump were apparently set on fire in the front lawn of the Breckenridge Hotel, long known as Lowther North. The fire was reported shortly after midnight but was put out by Emporia Police shortly before firefighters arrived. There was virtually no damage to anything except the signs and the grass under them.
A sign promoting Congressional candidate Tracey Mann, which sits between the Trump signs, was untouched.
There is currently no word on suspects. If you have information, call the Fire Marshal’s Office at 343-4230.
