Work begins Monday on a federal highway passing through Eureka.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says a mill and overlay project will start on US Highway 54, also known as River Street in Eureka. Curb and gutter work and new sidewalk construction will also take place in certain spots as part of the overall work zone.
This will affect drivers from Eureka’s eastern city limits to the western city limits. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions. APAC-Shears of Hutchinson won the contract with a $2.2 million bid.
Work could extend to May 2021, weather permitting.
