Although it was not the typical experience Lyon County residents have to come to expect, members of the Lyon County Fairboard were very pleased with how this year’s fair played out.
More than a month after the fair concluded, Fair Board Vice President Jeremiah Corpening joined KVOE’s Morning Show Tuesday to recap fair activities and look ahead to next year. Corpening says that he feels the fair went great this year even when you consider the number of adjustments and restrictions that occurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the annual carnival and slew of grandstand events had to be canceled due to health restrictions, Lyon County 4H activities still went off without a hitch. This included the annual Premium Sale that, in addition to taking place in person, was streamed to the general public who chose not to attend.
Corpening says while it was a major adjustment, he couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome.
Corpening says the fair board is looking at possibly continuing with some of the adjustments that were made this year due to the pandemic including continuing to broadcast the premium sale in the future.
At this time the fair board has already met once with some discussions taking place on the 2021 fair.
