The Kansas City Royals began the final week of the regular season with a 4-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Monday night.
Maikel Franco drove in 2 runs with a single with bases loaded in the 6th inning and scored a run.
Alex Gordon and Jorge Soler also drove in runs for the Royals.
The Royals used 6 pitchers who combined to give up the 1 run on 6 hits with 9 strikeouts. Josh Staumont was the winning pitcher and Greg Holland earned the save.
The Royals and Cardinals play again Tuesday night. Brady Singer will be the starting pitcher with first pitch at 7:05p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
