Stephanie Achille has taken the position of Director of the Humane Society of the Flint Hills.
In mid-August previous Director Caitlin Flood left the Humane Society to take on a new position in the Emporia area.
Achille joined KVOE’s morning show Friday and discussed how her previous background in student affairs will assist her in her new position.
Achille went on to say “There is lots of work to be done”. With approximately 100 animals being held in the shelter currently, there is a great need for, as Achille puts it, “Adopters, not shoppers”.
The Humane Society will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. Achille says several plans are in development to celebrate the milestone.
The Humane Society of the Flint Hills now has open public hours but requires an appointment. To make an appointment please contact the Humane Society at 620-342-4477.
