Businesses across Emporia and Lyon County have until early next month to apply for a new grant through the CARES Act coronavirus relief fund.
The federal money has let Lyon County develop a Small Business Economic Development Relief Grant. The program is designed to help with immediate and expected needs for existing businesses due to COVID-19, including working capital, inventory, wages, utilities or rent. Businesses have to submit certain information, including invoices and payroll, to be eligible. Award maximums will be determined later, but this is designed to be a broader program than others linked to the CARES Act.
The deadline is Oct. 9. Interested businesses need to download the application and email it to lyoncoed@gmail.com. Business owners with questions can email Garrett Nordstrom at gasinfo33@gmail.com.
