A penalty kick in the 2nd overtime by Hector Hernandez lifted the Emporia High boys soccer team to a 3-2 win over Topeka West Tuesday night.
Hernandez scored the first goal for the Spartans. Gio Garcia gave the Spartans a 2-1 lead going to halftime. West tied the match late in the 2nd half. The two teams were scoreless until there as just over 8 minutes to play in the second overtime.
The Spartans are now 4-3-1 they are scheduled to host Manhattan Thursday.
