The Walk to End Alzheimer’s may look a little different this year but is still taking place this coming weekend.
This year’s walk will be virtual. This means that the opening ceremony will take place online, starting at 2 p.m. After the ceremony ends participants are encouraged to go out and walk through their neighborhood or drive by the promise garden. Which will be at the Lyon County Fairgrounds and will be available for viewing until 5 p.m.
The event was organized with public safety in mind, given the current global pandemic.
Stacy Shultz with the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, says that the walk helps raise funds to support the millions affected by this disease.
Schultz went on to say some of these funds are helping research a cure.
The fundraising doesn’t end with the walk, it actually extends through the end of the year, and there are incentives to be earned through the end of the year as well.
