SOS has announced its new CASA of the Flint Hills Director.
Corina Sanchez has been tapped to fill the leadership role left vacant by former director Dena Russell who announced she would be stepping down from the position last month. After spending 18-years in Austin, Tx, where she served as the director of legal services at Texas Banker’s Association, Sanchez moved to Emporia to be near family and stated “I knew I wanted to take my career in a different direction.”
To that end, Sanchez applied to serve as SOS Advocate Coordinator, a position she has held for over the past four years.
During her time as Advocate Coordinator, Sanchez says she was able to learn a great deal from Russell. She says that time spent under Russell’s wing will benefit her greatly as she assumes her new role.
CASA — Court Appointed Special Advocates — volunteers serve children in Lyon and Chase counties that have found themselves placed into the court system. The majority of children served by CASA are those currently in the foster care system.
