Less than a week remains before Lyon County starts sending out mail ballots to residents wanting them.
County Clerk Tammy Vopat says around 3,000 ballots have already been requested after a record 3,700-plus were requested for the August primary. Residents can request a ballot until Oct. 27, but they have to get those postmarked and sent back to the Election Office by Election Day by Nov. 3.
Questions about mail ballot validity have subsided over the past few weeks after a series of outside mailers went to residents after the primary election.
In addition to the Election Office inside the Courthouse, people can drop off mail ballots outside the Courthouse or the city utility dropbox beginning Oct. 14.
Besides the mail ballots, Election Office workers are getting ready for the end of voter registration Oct. 13 and the start of the traditional advance voting process at the Courthouse on Oct. 14. They are also getting ready for the offsite event at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building from Oct. 19-24.
