Emporia High School has a new head softball coach.
Aaron Hammond has been selected to take over the program after Troy Chapman stepped down after 11 seasons.
Coach Hammond says he is excited for the opportunity.
Coach Hammond, who is the Wellness Supervisor for the Emporia Rec Center, has been an assistant for Coach Chapman both at Emporia High and during the summer.
Coach Hammond says missing last season will feel like starting over.
In 2019 the Emporia High softball team qualified for State.
