Organizers of the annual Washunga Days in Council Grove have announced the cancelation of the 2020 event.
Organizer Jesse Knight says the decision was made by both organizers and the Morris County Health Department last month after reviewing the current health situation. Knight spoke with KVOE News and stated they felt they could not safely hold the event given the number of people who attend on an annual basis.
Additionally, Knight says there was no fair way to limit attendance hence the decision to simply cancel the event outright.
Washunga days was postponed from the summer to the fall this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was scheduled to take place next Saturday at the Neosho River Walk in Council Grove. Plans are currently in development for the 2021 event tentatively set to take place in June.
