Lyon County deputies say a late-night pursuit from Emporia to the Kansas Turnpike’s Matfield Green service area and back into Lyon County ended with an arrest in southeast Chase County.
Deputy Jason Gifford says incident started on Interstate 35 near Emporia’s eastern city limits shortly before 11 pm Friday. The chase, which involved deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers, went west to the KTA Emporia exit and then southwest 30 miles to the Matfield Green service exit. The chase then returned to Lyon County before ending in the 2600 block of Camp Creek Road about seven miles east of Matfield Green.
The suspect, 26-year-old Kevan Calhoun of Grandview, Missouri, was arrested on suspicion of felony flee and elude; possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia; and unlisted traffic infractions. Formal charges are currently pending.
