If you haven’t already heard, the seventh annual Emporia Community Foundation Match Day is quickly approaching.
This year’s Match Day is taking place Nov. 16 and will benefit 23 different local charitable organizations. As KVOE News has reported recently this year’s Match Day has some adjustments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The day of giving will be online this year with no in-person component at Flint Hills Mall as in year’s past. ECF Director Becky Nurnberg, a guest of KVOE’s Talk of Emporia, says while it’s disappointing they have to adjust their plans, she is thankful the organization added its online component two years ago.
She says the process for donating this year is “very simple.”
Once again this year’s Match Day will have a $60,000 matching pool through contributions from the Clint Bowyer 79 Fund; Hopkins, Reeble and Trusler Foundations; Preston Family Trust and WS and EC Jones Testamentary Trust, Bank of America, NA, Trustee. Participating groups will receive a prorated amount of the matching pool as part of their overall total.
Nurnberg was joined on Talk of Emporia Friday by representatives of three of this year’s participating organizations including Camp Alexander, the Wade Barrett Memorial Fund and Lyon County Crime Stoppers. Friday’s show was just the first of four Match Day previews we will have on our airwaves.
Upcoming preview dates include:
Talk of Emporia Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 11:06 am
Talk of Emporia Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 11:06 am
Talk of Emporia Monday, Oct. 26 at 11:06 am
