Denny Hamlin won the Busch Pole Award for Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The lineup was determined using NASCAR’s competition-based formula.
Clint Bowyer, who announced his retirement at the end of the season, will start from the number 11 spot.
Bowyer needs a win or will need to earn enough points to move into the top 8 to advance to the next round of the play-offs. He is in 11th place in the play-off standings, 38 points back of the cutoff.
