Habitat for Humanity has completed work on another home in the local community and are looking forward to celebrating the accomplishment later this month.
Habitat will be holding a dedication ceremony for their most recently completed home at 700 Cottonwood on Oct. 29. Habitat Vice-President Clinton Shown, a recent guest of KVOE’s Newsmaker, says work was slightly setback this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, however, the organization is thrilled to have the project complete.
For over 30 years, Habitat has built over 20 homes in the local community providing families with stable and affordable housing. Shown says they invite any and all families in the local community to apply to be a recipient of a Habitat built home.
Shown says there are several requirements for a family to receive a home through Habitat, including 300 hours of work on a build site.
Typically, dedication ceremonies for Habitat homes are an “open house” formated event, however, Shown says with the pandemic still ongoing they will have to limit the number of people who can attend the upcoming dedication.
Work on the Cottonwood home concludes as work continues on another home in the 200 block of Mechanic. Word on completion and a dedication date for that home is currently pending.
