Fine-tuning was the rule of the night as the Lyon County Planning and Appeals Board continued its work on zoning regulations.
This was the first formal discussions on a fifth draft, which separated city and county regulations for the first time in the process. Board chair Mike Langley says input has been frequent, but the only major piece of action wanted by county residents was to have separate regulations.
Board members met for a little over an hour before setting up a public meeting on Veterans Day.
Board members have been discussing a regulation update since 2017, when the city-county comprehensive plan was approved. Board members had the chance to recommend approval by Lyon County commissioners in August but they declined, saying certain language had to be changed for home businesses and the text amendment process — but also saying it was best to wait until the coronavirus pandemic had eased.
