Headcount is a bit lower for USD 253 Emporia, and Community Relations Director Lyndel Landgren tells KVOE News that was expected.
Final numbers may not be available for several weeks, but Landgren says the district had an unaudited headcount of 4,426 students. The five-year average, including the fall 2020 semester, is 4,628 students.
Landgren says the district was diligent in setting up its education models and COVID-19 protocols to make sure students were as safe as possible. He says that helped parents to make their decisions on where to put their students and which model their children should use. He also says he didn’t feel the process caused parents to take their students to other districts.
