Windy conditions are likely across the KVOE listening area for most of Thursday before our best chance of storm activity in weeks coming Thursday night.
Wind advisories cover Lyon and all surrounding counties from 9 am to 5 pm. Wind gusts are expected as high as 45 mph, possibly downing tree limbs and power lines and also causing travel issues for high-profile vehicles like commercial trucks.
Before the wind kicks in, foggy conditions have set up across much of the state. Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties are in a dense fog advisory until 7 am. Greenwood County is in an advisory until 1 am.
Storms could come into the picture by Thursday evening. There is a marginal risk of severe weather for hail and wind along and east of Kansas Highway 99 through early Friday. This follows 0.10 inches of rain after brief heavy showers at the KVOE studios.
