Dynamic Discs has a unique opportunity to expand, both to meet a current explosion in interest and to lay the foundation for longstanding growth. And the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas is on board.
During a special meeting Friday, the RDA’s Board of Directors unanimously recommended a plan for Dynamic Discs to buy the Detroit Reman property at 840 Overlander once that business closes its local operations over the next several months. Could this mean disc production coming from overseas to Emporia? Dynamic Discs owner Jeremy Rusco says it’s possible.
The RDA’s recommendation is that the city approves $650,000 for the purchase of the building as well as a performance-based cash incentive. RDA President Kent Heermann says this is a major move for Dynamic Distribution and one that should enhance the company’s ongoing growth pattern.
Wednesday is the earliest city commissioners could look at this as an agenda item in study meeting. If that is scheduled, action could take place as soon as Nov. 4.
If city commissioners approve the move, Dynamic will have four times the current warehouse and distribution space of 20,000 square feet. This also lets Dynamic Discs expand its employment beyond its current number of around 50.
8 am Friday: RDA tees up prospect of Dynamic Distribution buying Detroit Reman warehouse with purchase package recommendation
The Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas is recommending City Commission approval of a new business venture for Dynamic Discs.
Emporia’s disc golf company has outgrown its warehouse and distribution space at 3601 West Sixth and is now planning to buy the Detroit Reman property at 840 Overlander once that business closes its local operations. The move quadruples the current space of 20,000 square feet upon final approvals.
The RDA’s recommendation is that the city approves $650,000 for the purchase of the building as well as a performance-based cash incentive. Emporia Enterprises is willing to facilitate the real estate transaction for the current warehouse, with Emporia Enterprises owning, managing and then listing the Sixth Avenue property for sale afterward. Emporia Enterprises will borrow a portion of the cost and will need a cash infusion from the city to finish the transaction.
Dynamic Distribution, meanwhile, will renovate the space on Overlander Road while staying on West Sixth for the next several months, also paying for variable costs like utilities, snow removal and mowing as needed.
