Improvements continue on Americus Road between Emporia and Americus.
An overlay project began several weeks ago. Assistant County Engineer Jim Brull says this is a standard road maintenance project — without the milling part.
Traffic has been down to one lane between Roads 210 and 240. A modified streetlight and a pilot car are helping to get drivers through the work zone.
Brull expects striping to begin shortly once the S-curves are fully paved. Plans for next year are to be determined and are budget-related. Brull says the Highway Department has been working to improve Americus Road north of Emporia the past several years.
