Now that the presidential debates are over, did anybody change their minds afterward? And did the candidates — President Donald Trump and former vice president Joe Biden — do what they needed to do to position themselves to win?
Not surprisingly, Lyon County party chairs said their candidates had strong performances. Republican party chair Peggy Mast says Trump had an effective night speaking about business, health care and coronavirus response, but she says the political atmosphere is too polarized now to move the needle much.
Democratic party chair Ray Rogers says Biden is doing what he has to, given his lead in many polls.
Candidates debated over coronavirus response, tax policy, tax returns, immigration, health care, racism and perceived foreign influence. Thursday night’s debate was much calmer than the debate Sept. 29, when both Biden and Trump repeatedly talked over each other to make their points.
