Local residents were in and out of the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building throughout the morning Saturday making sure their voice will be heard in the upcoming general election.
The final day of advanced voting at the Anderson Building saw well over 100 individuals pass through, a common trend throughout the week according to Lyon County Election Officer Amie Jackson.
Jackson says there were no issues with individuals adhering to COVID-19 related mitigation efforts and there were no instances of electioneering at the polls. Jackson attributes this to the high volume of reminders and information put out by the election office in recent weeks.
To say the political climate at the national level has been heated recently would likely be an understatement. However, Jackson says none of that political turmoil nationally has trickled down to local voters at the polls.
While advanced voting has concluded at the Anderson Building advanced voting continues this week at the Lyon County Election Office. Hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and 8 am to noon on Monday, Nov. 1.
In addition, residents can still cast mail ballots if those have already been sent out or they can request a mail ballot application until Tuesday.
