With the Health Insurance open enrollment period for 2021 drawing near Kansans are being encouraged to “shop around” to find the best policy that fits their needs.
In a recent news release, Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt stated “As we near open enrollment, Kansans need to know they do not have to keep their current plan if there is a better fit for them and their family.”
Schmidt would go on to state shopping around can be very beneficial as some residents could see an average rate reduction of eight percent to an increase of just under ten percent.
In the release, Schmidt also took time to remind residents of some services covered under fully insured non-grandfathered programs. This includes smoking cessation programs, depression screenings and other mental health conditions.
The open enrollment period begins Nov. 1 and will run through Dec. 15. For additional information on the 2021 Health Insurance Marketplace or for resources on shopping for insurance, please visit the Kansas Insurance Department’s website at insurance.kansas.gov.
