‘Tis the season for trick-or-treating, and local authorities want you to be prepared if you’re out and about on Halloween night.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging people to go online to the county’s website to check for registered offenders. It’s also urging parents and children to be watchful on Halloween. Here’s Lyon County Detective Sergeant Jacob Welsh:
Residents can research for registered offenders at the Lyon County website, www.lyoncounty.org/sheriff/registered-offenders. Residents can also sign up for free automated email notifications letting them know if an offender moves nearby. People can call the Sheriff’s Office at 341-3205 or find the Sheriff’s Office on social media if they have questions.
The Sheriff’s Office says there are over 100 registered sex offenders in Lyon County, and Welsh says this information can be useful at any time of year.
