Manhattan rolled to a 49-7 win over the Emporia High football team Friday night.
Manhattan scored on their first 3 possessions to build a 21-0 lead by halftime. They open the 2nd half with a 78 yard kick-off return for a touchdown and the Indians rolled from there.
They would take advantage of great field position and scored three more touchdowns to take a 49-0 lead going to the 4th quarter with a running clock.
Emporia Highs lone score came on a 32 yard run by Camden Kirmer with 4:45 to play in the game.
Manhattan quarterback Dayne Ashenbrenner scored 2 rushing touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass.
Vinny Smith scored 2 rushing touchdowns. Lorenzo Wilhoite scored a touchdown. Ty Jackson returned the kick-off 78 yards for a touchdown and Kyler Hahn caught the touchdown pass.
The Spartans fall to 2 and 6 for the season. Emporia High will be the 8th seed in the 5A east standings which would give them a home game next Friday.
